Snake pretty much stays in the molded coiled position, although it can be stretched out while being handled and will writhe because of the coils when manipulated. When released, it will go back to the coiled position. This is a real nice snake, with a good solid feel to it - a replica, not a toy. It weighs 15 ounces and has integrity.
